From Otherkin Wiki

Voidpunk is a subculture of marginalized people reclaiming dehumanization. Voidpunks aestheticize nonhumanity, particularly monstrousness and the surreal and eldritch, as a way of coping with their oppression. This may involve the creation of a voidsona.

History[edit | edit source]

The concept was created by tumblr user arotaro, and the word itself was coined by tumblr user milkchocolateowl.[1]

Community[edit | edit source]

what do voidpunks do?

there has been Discourse about who's 'allowed' to be voidpunk, and also people losing sight of the countercultural core of the thing and treating it as mere aesthetic

Relation to alterhumanity[edit | edit source]

arotaro has explicitly said that voidpunk is not alterhuman or otherkin; she "doesn't know anything about those communities" and the overlap is "unintentional"

there has also been Discourse about people finding voidpunk and thinking it's for them when they're probably actually otherkin
